Since 1994, CVWA has united woodworkers of every skill level across the Conejo Valley — from weekend hobbyists to seasoned craftspeople. Learn, share, and build together.
The Conejo Valley Woodworkers Association was founded in 1994 when the local Shopsmith store closed — a group of passionate woodworkers refused to let the community they'd built disappear with it.
Today we welcome anyone with an interest in woodworking at any skill level. Our goals are to help members deepen their craft, share knowledge freely, and promote woodworking to schools and the broader public.
First Thursday of each month. Demos, Q&A, and show-and-tell.
Promoting the craft to schools and the next generation of makers.

Experienced members sharing skills with those just getting started.
Elected annually. Volunteers who keep the sawdust flying.
The CVWA story begins with loss — the closing of the Shopsmith/Woodworking Unlimited store in Newbury Park in January 1994. Founder Howard Ford and a handful of devoted woodworkers refused to let the community disappear. A single letter mailed to 53 people launched something that's still going strong 30+ years later.
