Butterfly Box is made from Maple. The wing sections are cut from PurpleHeart, YellowHeart, RedHeart and Mahogany. The Butterfly body is Walnut. The finish is 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Top coat is Deft semi-gloss spray lacquer.

Birdhouse Portrait cut on the scroll saw from 11/16" bass blank with bark still attached. Backer board is 1/8" baltic birch plywood painted black. Finish is a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Topcoat is Deft semi-gloss spray lacquer.

Portrait of Nichole, Dan's daughter. It is cut on a scroll saw on 1/8" baltic birch plywood. The frame is 3/4" Red Oak and the backer board is stained Baltic birch plywood.
The finish is a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. The topcoat is Deft semi-gloss spray lacquer.
The pattern was drawn using a computer program from a photograph.

Giraffe Family Puzzle was cut on a scroll saw using a #5 Flying Dutchman Polar blade. It was made from local grown Oak. The display box is made from Walnut and Baltic Birch plywood. The finish is a 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. The topcoad is Deft semi-gloss spray lacquer.

The latest of Dan's creations, a Geared Clock. The gears are strictly ornamental as they do not turn. The wood species are Red Oak, Sapele, Yellowheart, Maple, Purpleheart, and Walnut.The finish is a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits to bring out the grain and color of the woods. The opt coat is Deft semi gloss spray lacquer.

Scrolled Mini Clock This clock was cut on the scroll saw at the club's annual BBQ. It was entered into the silent auction and won by Kathy Ayers, wife of our club president.
It was cut from 1/2" Mahogany and finished with boiled linseed oil. It has a top coat of Deft semi-gloss spray lacquer.

Seam Ripper tool entered into the tool challenge. The handle was turned on the lathe and is made from Redheart. The finish is spray gloss lacquer.

Miniature Bird Houses were cut entirely on the scroll saw. The woods are Mahogany and Alder for the houses. Mahogany, Cherry and Walnut are used for the birds.

Cheese Dome and Cheese Knife with Tray All wood parts made from the same board of Mahogany. The base of the Cheese Board was cut on the scroll saw. The knife handle was turned on the lathe. The knife tray was cut on the scroll saw. The finish on all wood pieces is a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits, then top coated with Deft semi-gloss spray lacquer.

The piece is a portrait style cutting of his dog Stuart. Stuart is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The pattern was drawn by Charles Dering and was cut out using a scroll saw. The wood is 1/8" Oak plywood and the backing board is 1/8" Luan. The frame is Mahogany.

This Steak Knife Set was made by Dan for the "Table Setting Challenge." It is a set of six knives in a Walnut box. The knives are scaled with Cocobolo and finished with Watco Danish Oil and buffed with carnauba wax. The box is finished with wax.

Dan built this Santa's Workshop Clock from cherry, maple, walnut, oak, pine, Baltic birch, and padauk. It has a quartz movement with Westminster chimes. Dan installed a switch to turn off the chimes when necessary. You can see Santa and his Elves through the windows and a couple Elves hanging on the pendulum! The finish is Watco Danish Oil and Deft Spray Lacquer.
