Puzzle Box. Plans found at http://www.gtcreations.com/appleseed/.
Started by gluing up 7 pieces of Poplar (ea. 1x4x6). Bookmatched the ends (alternated the end grain) which you can see on the left side of the first picture. Finished with Sanding Sealer, Tung Oil and Finishing Wax.

Shut the Box game box is made from Walnut and Poplar with Purple Heart splines. Special Walnut stain and Tung Oil finishes the project.

Here is another series of toys from Gene West. The first is a Baltic Birch Bucking Bronco finished in water based polyurethane. The second is a farmer driving his pig also made from Baltic Birch. It is finished in polyurethane. The third is a Woodworker Sawing a Log made from Baltic Birch and finished in polyurethane. All are crank operated with cranks made from clothes hangers.
